Golf Getaway to Naples

So you've been looking at ice and snow for awhile. You've re-gripped your clubs twice, and the metal on them is so polished, you can see your pale reflection. When you look at the living room ceiling, you find multiple holes from practicing with that new $400 driver. And, let's not talk about that glass-topped coffee table.  Its time for a Naples Golf Vacation.

Why Pick Naples for Your Golf Getaway

In the winter months the average high temperatures range from the mid 70's to low 80's and the average monthly rain fall is 2 inches or less. The courses are kept lush and playable throughout the season. And, the greens are slick and true.

There's always a little weather risk wherever you go, but Naples compares very favorably to other popular golf destinations.

Golf Opportunities in Naples

Although the majority of golf courses in the area are private, there is a good selection of semi-private and public courses. With a little planning, a foursome can always find a tee time for 18 holes. It takes a little more planning and coordination, if your group wants to get in 36 holes/per day.

The Easy Way - Contact the Ritz (Naples), Hyatt (Bonita) or Marriot (Marco) and sign-up for one of their stay and play packages. Those hotels and courses are top notch and upscale. The Naples Beach Hotel is another option. It has a great location on the Naples beach, but the course is of an older design.

The Ala Carte Way - Pick from one of the semi-private or public course recommendations listed in the golf overview section. Bottom line, the overwhelming majority of courses in the area are lush and well groomed. If you're paying over $60 in season for a round of golf, you're bound to be happy with the overall value.

Golf Values

All the semi-private and public courses adjust their green fees by season. If you are visiting in the summer, you'll find very playable courses for less than $30. Green fees in the peak season range between $50 to $150+. Higher priced courses might mean a more picturesque golfing experience and amenities, but not necessarily a better round of golf. Comparability wise, price for quality would be similar to or slightly better than other golf destinations.

You can get great golf values and discounts by buying tee times online through eBay. Go to the golf section and then to Florida courses. Usually, there is a wide selection of tee times available for area courses. Discounts of 25% or more are common. Ebay's FL Golf Link.

Another option is checking the Naples Daily News when you are in town for coupons. The sports section usually has a listing of several courses offering discounts.
